Tohoku University Technology: Absorbable Substitute Bone Regeneration Agent with Bone Induction Ability: T19-353
A resorbable bone regeneration agent with excellent bone induction ability, made from cells of bone-like tissue created using iPS cells that have been inactivated.
Existing artificial bones and bone filling materials form bone by physically filling the defect (bone conductivity), but they lack the ability to actively induce bone regeneration around the material, making it difficult to achieve sufficient therapeutic effects in large defects. Future treatments using iPS cells have also been proposed, but there is a risk that the transplanted cells may become tumorigenic. The present invention provides a bone regeneration agent that safely possesses bone inductive ability by inactivating the cells after producing bone from iPS cells.
